We are business consultants focused on UX
At Neet UX & Strategy, we are problem-solving business, design, tech, and data nerds specializing in UX. We think it’s fun to delight users and help our clients achieve their business goals.
We craft the right user experiences through expert UX/UI design, research, and content. We can help whether you’re making complex software products for business users, doing e-commerce for consumers, providing services, or figuring out how to capitalize on AI.
To improve your UX approach, we collaborate with Leadership and Staff across disciplines such as UX, Product, Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Data Science, Support, Finance, and HR. We can help “fine-tune” any parts of your company that are preventing you from delivering the right UX and reaching your business goals. (See how diplomatic we can be?)
Neet UX is based in Austin, Texas, y’all, but we work worldwide. Our clients include early-stage startups, midsize companies, large enterprises, and more.
Potential clients often wonder whether we have experience in their domains. Chances are we have worked in your domain before or on a similar set of problems. We are curious, seasoned consultants who learn quickly.

About our Principal & Founder
John Morkes, PhD
Neet UX & Strategy was founded in 2017 by John Morkes, PhD, after he served for many years as a Principal & Co-Founder at Expero Inc. and as the Director of Human-Computer Interaction at Trilogy Software. In a prior life, John was a technology journalist for Wired and R&D Magazine.
He is an expert in UX for complex domains as well as consumer sites, management consulting, UX strategy, defining AI-enabled products, UX management, UX and product research, UX content, leadership coaching, and training. His recent work is for B2B and B2C clients in healthcare, human resources, consumer electronics, hospitality, retail, energy, agronomy, automotive, financial services, and other industries.
John has published influential studies and articles on UX topics, including pioneering research with Jakob Nielsen on how users read online and guidelines for writing for the web. This work has been cited and put into practice thousands of times. It’s included in company design systems and style guides, as well as university UX, writing, and marketing programs around the world.
John also is known for research on the use of humor in human-computer interaction. This work has influenced the creation of AI chatbots, generative AI, and conversational UX.
Thousands of C-suite executives, managers and practitioners have been trained by John in tutorials at Nielsen Norman Group conferences and in custom training courses.
In response to receiving murky and incomplete product requirements, John co-created a Value Testing technique and metric for users and stakeholders to assess the value of proposed features, content, data, products and websites. Many companies use this technique today.
John has been an Advisor at several companies, most recently data.world and AppMap.
John has a PhD from Stanford University and BA and MS degrees from Northwestern University.
“We worked with Neet UX to redesign our branding, website, and pitch deck for fundraising. They provided expertise across strategy, design, and communication. Neet UX exceeded our expectations, and we are thrilled with the results.”
— Doug Fearing, PhD, Chief Data Officer & General Manager, Zelus Analytics/Teamworks
